Yeah, bit of a double whammy, that Guardian article.
I don't know if you caught this, but I read your essay on Wuthering Heights as featured on Norman Geras's blog, and thought it was excellent. I very much enjoyed reading it.

In any interest group you'll find people ready to snark and bitch at the hint of a suggestion that somebody somewhere said something to somebody that somebody somewhere just might find offensive.

Then you've got those who hold on to a specious sense of entitlement. Off on one RPG forum I frequent there's one poster who insists other people have to actively entertain him in play for them to have any worth as human beings. Remind you of any writers?
